It seems like all of my latest paintings have a tropical vibe to them. I guess my subconscious is dreaming of summer. I am really feeling the peaches, purples, and teals right now:

Here is a little process video of a new painting that I started recently. There is still a lot to do but I am happy with the direction so far! In Slavic mythology, the Zorya Vechernaya, or Evening Star, is one of two guardian goddesses that serve the sun god Dažbog. The Morning Star opens the gates to his palace every morning for the sun-chariot's departure. At dusk, the Evening Star closes the palace gates once more after his return. Together, the two goddesses are known as the Auroras. The Auroras also guard and watch over the doomsday hound, Simargl, who is chained to the star Polaris in the constellation Ursa Minor. If the chain ever breaks, the hound will devour the constellation and the universe will end.
I have been working on a series of large paintings of warrior goddess-type women in elaborate costumes. I will post the finished paintings soon, but in the meantime, here are some sneak peeks:
A friend commissioned this portrait of her husband, Trevor, wearing an Imperial Russian Army officer uniform. I am pretty pleased with how it came out! Oil on board, 16x20.
Last week I put the finishing touches on this 6x4 foot acrylic painting that I have been working on for a while. It is part of a tree series that I am working on currently. I will upload a nicer photo of the whole painting soon.
I have been practicing digital speed painting with some little landscapes and cityscapes. Here is a one inspired by a quiet alleyway I saw recently in Worcester:
I painted some impressionist style bouquets just for fun and practice, on little 8x10 canvasses. First one was not so great, second one slightly better, hopefully the third one will be a bigger improvement.
